Duct Design

Air Ducts!!
Your air duct system is essential in producing air throughout your home and business. They work with your HVAC system and can be made of various shapes, materials, sizes, and more that can greatly influence the production of your airflow. Every property will come across maintenance, repairs, and replacements so it’s important to get familiar with the type of air duct and HVAC system you have in order to get proper parts, materials, and more. When in doubt as to what to do and when to have maintenance get in touch with a professional HVAC company for services and assistance. Until then, here is some helpful information regarding air duct systems.

They are air corridors and ducts that distribute the air in the necessary quantities to the places to be conditioned and spread within them in a way that ensures its access to these places. Most of them are made of galvanized iron sheets that are not subject to corrosion and rust, as well as for their hardness and ease of forming. They are also made of aluminum and steel, but for limited applications. Sheet and duct design and its accessories are formed in the MCC Air Conditioning Factory under the supervision of experienced engineers, according to the sizes indicated in the design drawings, prepared in advance by the Designing Department, and with the measurements and thicknesses indicated in the applicable international codes (SMACNA), which is the global association of sheet and air conditioning contractors.

Air Duct Types!!

• Sheet Metal Air Ducts. The most common type of ridged air duct is constructed of galvanized steel or aluminum
• Fiberglass-Lined Air Ducts. Some sheet metal air ducts are lined with an external or internal fiberglass duct liner.
• Fiberboard Air Ducts.
• Flexible Air Ducts.
• The most important of them are the square or rectangular shape and their connections, and they are used more widely due to the ease of concealing them in false ceilings.
• Circular ducts and their connections, which are manufactured according to the required diameter and are often used in places where there are no gypsum ceilings.
• Oval air ducts, somewhat similar to circular ones, with a different method of manufacture.
• Air ducts are an important and complementary part of HVAC systems!!
• In air conditioning systems, including “hidden air conditioning, central air conditioning, and desert air conditioning,” it works to transfer and distribute the air in certain quantities and withdraw the return air to re-cool it again in the central air conditioner and sometimes in the hidden.
• In ventilation systems, it works to move unwanted air out from "garages, restaurants, swimming pools, bathrooms, isolation rooms in hospitals, and others"

Air Duct Insulation!!

Air ducts are insulated with fiberglass from the outside and inside, but it is covered inside with a layer to protect it from moisture and prevent the spread of fiber atoms in the air, in order to maintain the temperature rushing from the fans through the air duct and flexible connections, then boxes and up to the air outlets "grills". Insulation also reduces the sound level of airflow, to reach international standards.

Air Duct Accessories & Components!!

• Canvas, which is a link with metal ends with a type of leather in the middle, that helps absorb the vibrations generated by the machine and not transfer them to the duct
• Flexible connections connect the ducts to the air distribution boxes and are insulated with glass wool and are characterized by their flexibility, ease of formation, and passage in narrow places.
• Air distribution box (Plenum Box), which connects flexible joints to air vents and is also insulated from the inside.
• Dumber: It is used to control the speed, quantity and division of air flow. It can be manually or automatically controlled. It has several types.
• Grilles have air outlet holes and come in several types “side, longitudinal, square, round, and jet”
